Television recycling

Monitor recycling
End of life televisions have to be recycled. Regardless whether it is an old fashion C(athode) R(ay) T(ube) or a modern flat screen LCD/PLASMA/TFT or LED.

In both cases the actual monitor has to be taken out of the housing and the different materials where the monitor exists of have to be taken apart.

Recycling CRT TV's and Monitors
In the CRT is toxic material in the phosphorus layer on the inside of the CRT. Also it is important to separate the glass from the front and the rear. The rear glass contains led. The front is very good to reuse when there are no remains of lead in it.

Recycling Flat screen televisions/Monitors
The flat screen television, basically the TFT, has a complete different kind of monitor. Taking this apart will bring a number of very well recyclable plastics that are valuable ones the toxic liquid crystals are removed. The liquid crystals are collected and can be send away for destruction.
